08/09 Poker Night Recap by Duzh After the success of last years poker nite, we had a pretty big response to players locking up a seat early in order not ot miss out. However about 5-6 players pulled out in the afternoon creating a 17 player tourney. But 1st we ate a magnificently cooked bbq (except for the chicken skewers) courtesy of Riz and his apprentice chef Des, thanks guys. Another special thanks must go out to Lauren and Rosa for providing a couple of yummy salads for us all, and Lauren again for arranging most of the supplies needed on the night. After the POM awards for Dec/Jan were announced I begun collecting the $30 entry fee for the tourney. Rosa and Peta in the meantime were busy setting up the tables in readiness for the start. In the end the line up was as follows: Table 1: Jugga, Billy, Sock, Mick Wills, Yorke, Mel, Peta, Rompa and Tay Table 2: Deano, Wilko, Barnsey, Lash, Phil, Sean, Damo and Duzh. I dealt on the 2nd table and tried to play at the same time while Rosa dealt the whole nite for us all… ty sweetheart. To cut a very long story short the final table of 10 consisted of Yorke, Barnsey, Sock, Tay, Wilko, Duzh, Phil, Mick Wills, Billy and Mel. We had a vote upon commencing the final table as to how we would distribute the prizepool. After some deliberation it was decided $50 would be put towards the cricket trip, $300 for 1st, $100 for 2nd and $60 for 3rd place. Fabulous Phil Marr outlasted us all and was to good in the end. Tay was a gallant 2nd and I came 3rd. Phil generously donated another $50 from his win to the cricket trip J As is tradition now with the annual poker night, a cash game was setup that lasted through til about 1am. I’m unsure of the exact amount tipped in but it was atleast another $130 to the trip. No Warney or Hachem this year but it seemed like most people enjoyed our 2009 instalment of the ASJCC poker night. TRIVIA NIGHT WRAP & RESULTS A GREAT NIGHT WAS HAD AT THE CLUBROOMS ON SATURDAY EVENING WHEN ROMPA & SEAN HOSTED THE CLUBS TRIVIA NIGHT. WITH 5 TEAMS IN ATTENDANCE AND PLENTY OF CHALLENGING QUESTIONS TO GO WITH PLENTY OF LAUGHS I'M SURE EVERYONE ENJOYED IT AS MUCH AS I DID. IT HAD EVERYTHING WHICH INCLUDES THE NAILBITING FINISH WHICH SAW DES COME BACK FROM THE JAWS OF DEFEAT TO BEAT KATE 2-1 IN A BEST OF THREE ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS MEGA-CHALLENGE. ON A SIDE NOTE, SHANNON STILL HASN'T GOT HIS PADS ON, AND BILL IS YET TO FINISH THAT BLOODY MARS BAR THAT COST HIS TEAM VICTORY! WINNER - All The Other Teams Suck - Duzh, Rosa, Des, Jackie & Carl - 31 Stouinds - The Siomos Family - 31 Have Another Bucket - Stinga, Kaila, Deano, Jugga & Bill - 30 Don's Dancers - Stiva, Veronica, Rick & Linda - 25 Not One But Two Runners - Johnny, Aslam "The Fonz" Razik, Yorke & Barnsey - 22 TRIVIA NIGHT VIDEO'S - MARS BAR CHALLENGE! The Final Bonus Round. Watch for the big boys of ASJCC doing their thing (eating) - a cheating Stiva, followed by a cheating Johnny! CONTROVERSY BREAKS OUT! In awarding victory all hell breaks loose! I dont think the chairs are far from coming out WWE style! Look for Billy to STILL be trying to finish that Mars Bar.
